Background
The Department of Civil Aviation was established in 1962, with an aim to work towards the progress of aviation sector in the State. Traditionally the Department has been focused on VVIP flying to ensure safe and quick transport of dignitaries of the State. The Department owns one twin-engine Bell 429 helicopter for this purpose. In the recent years, the main areas of thrust have shifted to improving air connectivity through construction and up-gradation of domestic and international airports, aviation training and other attendant activities.
