As per the Industrial Business and Development Policy 2017 of the Government of Punjab has identified “thrust sectors” keeping in view the potential for their future growth in the state and employment generation. MROs for Aviation & Defence sector is a Thrust Sector as per the Policy. Proximity of cities such as Chandigarh / Patiala from the National Capital Delhi make them an ideal ground for setting up MROs. Space near airports especially at hangar sites of airport / flying clubs is preferable. The Department of Civil Aviation intends to develop a “Centre of Excellence” through a Technical Hub for Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul set up for electrical and mechanical aggregates of civil and military aircraft at Patiala Aviation Complex (PAC).
