The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India and Indian Air Force have given in-principle approval for the construction of International Civil and Cargo Terminal at Indian Air Force Station, Halwara. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Government of Punjab and AAI on December 20, 2018 for developing it as a joint venture with AAI holding 51% equity and State Government 49%. A Joint Venture Company, named as Ludhiana International Airport Limited (LIAL), has been established and an agreement for the same has been signed with the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
